FIELD: petrochemical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to complete oxidation of light paraffins (methane, propane) into carbon dioxide and water of heterogeneous catalysts. Process comprises passing inert gas-diluted oxygen/paraffin stream through catalyst bed at 350 to 1000°C, said catalyst being geometrically structured system including (i) microfibers of high-silica fibrous carrier characterized by hydroxyl group IR absorption band with wave number ν=3620-3650 cm-1 and half-width 65-75 cm-1, specific surface as measured by BET method involving heat desorption of argon SAr=0.5-30 m2/g, surface value as measured by alkali titration method SNa=5-150 m2/g at ratio SNa/SAr=5-50, and (ii) at least one active element capable of forming charged either metallic, or bimetallic clusters characterized, in UV-Vis diffusion reflection spectrum, by specific bands in the region of 34000 to 42000 cm-1 and ratio of integral intensity of band caused by charged metallic or bimetallic clusters to the same band caused by, respectively, metallic or bimetallic clusters at least 1.0..
