FIELD: chemical treatment of coils of metallic band.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing coil end into processing bath with lateral cylindrical surface; successively supplying and draining technological solutions for chemical treatment and washing into processing bath by gravity from additional tanks. Outer end of band is secured to inner lateral surface of bath; inner end of band is introduced to grove of coiling-uncoiling drum arranged in center of processing bath. Diameter of drum is less than that of coil by 1.2 - 1.5 times. Turns of coil are treated cyclically twisting-untwisting coil. Apparatus for performing the method includes processing bath; additional tanks; coiling-uncoiling drum arranged in center of processing bath and having mechanism for vertical motion of drum, mechanism for cyclically rotating drum. The last has groove and diameter of drum is less by 1.2 -1.5 times than inner diameter of coil. Processing bath is communicated through flexible hoses with additional tanks provided with mechanisms for vertical motion.

EFFECT: improved quality of treated band due to enhanced uniformity of chemical treatment, shortened time period of multistage technological procedures.
