FIELD: cartography, in particular, methods for creating maps of relief by means of image processing, possible use for automation of editing and checking of cartographic information about relief.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, three-dimensional local map is created, digital model of relief is constructed by assigning height values to ground points. construction of the model includes construction and editing of horizontals. Triangulation is built which connects elements of digital relief model, on basis of a set of edited horizontals, in such a way, that no parts of horizontals enter the resulting triangles. Non-directional graph is constructed, the set of vertices and ribs of which depend on recognized shapes of relief, connected components of resulting graph are found and aforementioned shapes of relief are recognized by serial analysis of all connected components of the graph.
EFFECT: development of method for recognizing shapes of relief, using only images of horizontals and not using ground level points.
