FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: image of discrete graphic distributions is converted into continuous gray-scale form. Said distributions are represented in the form of isograms. Then, in optical simulation, digital magnitudes of attribute at preset point of conversion board are encoded by optical symbols, i.e. different-sixed spots with optical density proportional to attribute magnitude. Terrain relief is constructed by interpolating points of elevations (depths) in the form of bivariate irregular rational fundamental splines. Note here that terrain relief construction is performed by constructing bivariate spline-funciton defined as tensor product of univariate splines.

EFFECT: simplified cartographic representation of bivariate distributions set in digital form.
