FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: images of discrete graphic distributions are converted to a continuous half-tone form with further display thereof in form of isolines. During optical simulation, digital feature values are encoded at the given point of the board by optical symbols - different-sized spots with optical density which is proportional to the feature value. Topographical relief is constructed by interpolating height and/or depth points in form of two-dimensional irregular rational fundamental splines. A two-dimensions spline function is constructed, which is defined as a tensor product of one-dimensional splines. When constructing the topographical relief, iterated functions and wavelets are determined in order to present fractal relief by forming, for a piecewise linear surface, Kronrod-Reeb graph and Morse-Smale complexes. The piecewise linear surface is simplified using structures of the Kronrod-Reeb graph and Morse-Smale complexes obtained for it. Fractal relief parameters are estimated based on the given structures of the Reeb graph and Morse-Smale complexes.
EFFECT: broader functional capabilities, high reliability of cartographic display of two-dimensional distributions given in digital form.
