FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, namely continuous casting of metals.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of forming inner lining and parts of mold body having grooves on their surfaces. Grooves are formed by inclination angle relative to said surfaces and then body parts and lining are mutually compressed. At plastic deforming, material of lining partially fills inclined grooves whose inclination angles are in range 45 -70°. Protrusions arranged over grooves are also formed in lining in parts of body.
EFFECT: lowered consumption of copper, increased useful life period of molds, enhanced conditions for cooling ingots.
