FIELD: war materiel; solid-propellant rocket engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method of starting solid-propellant rocket engine comes to following: firstly, igniter is set into action and then combustion products of igniter act onto solid-propellant charge to open nozzle cover. Igniter operates both at moment of opening of nozzle cover and after opening, until engine comes to nominal rating conditions. Nozzle cover is opened at pressure in combustion chamber not lower than stable burning pressure of proposed solid-propellant charge. These conditions are maintained after opening of nozzle cover until engine comes to nominal rating conditions.
EFFECT: improved reliability of starting of solid-propellant rocket engine at extreme below-zero temperatures.
