FIELD: method and apparatus for electric arc welding by short circuiting of two mutually separated ends of articles, possibly tube welding.
SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes large number of separate electric power sources connected to one welding station having DC inlet for supplying electric arc welding current to electrodes and welded part. Each electric power source includes switching inverter with outlet DC current determined by signal fed to inlet of electric power source; circuit for parallel supply of outlet DC currents to inlet of welding station; feedback circuit including pickup for forming electric current signal characterizing electric arc current; source of control signal; circuit for forming main electric current signal on base of current signal of pickup and control signal; circuit for supplying main electric current signal to inlets of large number of electric power sources. Such operations provide equal distribution of DC current fed to DC inlet of welding station between electric power sources. Apparatus may be used as one-electrode apparatus for welding with use of welding currents exceeding 1000-2000 A.
EFFECT: improved design, enhanced efficiency of welding apparatus.
