FIELD: hydraulic structures, particularly to construct dams in northern territories.
SUBSTANCE: dam comprises upper and lower fills, core, upper and lower transition layers, as well as heat shield arranged along dam in low transition layer zone and creating positive temperature in the zone. Heat shield comprises a row of serially arranged wells. Each well is provided with at least one heating device. Drain system is formed in lower dam part from dam core side. Water collection part of the drain system is in positive temperature zone. Water discharge part thereof is in low part of low fill at river bed bottom and is directly communicated with river. Water discharge part of drain system is formed of rockfill having high water permeability, which permanently provides positive temperature in water discharge part of drain system during operational water level fluctuation in low pool. This is obtained due to periodical ingress and exit of heated river water in rockfill pores as river water level changes. The dam also has means, which create positive temperature in core head.
EFFECT: increased reliability due to improved drainage system and core head operation.
