FIELD: power engineering; production of compressed air; thermal and atomic power plants working on compressed air.
SUBSTANCE: proposed air pressure unit is made in form of coil air duct consisting of upgoing heat-insulated and downgoing pipes interconnected together and grouped in regenerative sections, several turns in each. Non-equilibrium hot and cold upgoing and downgoing air flows are formed in coil turns due to delivery of heat to working air in upgoing pipes and removal of heat from downgoing pipes; these flows compress the working air step-by-step to high static pressure without moving mechanisms and intermediate electric converters. Delivery of heat to and removal of it from heat-exchange sources by external heat carriers take place in extreme turns of section only; heat-exchange sections in adjacent turns are connected by intermediate heat carriers carrying utilized heat of air being cooled from downgoing pipe to air to be heated in upgoing pipe. Intermediate heat carriers consist of waste-heat boiler for generation of superheated steam by heat of air being cooled and heat-insulated steam line of tubular steam-and-air heater which is connected with it.
EFFECT: enhanced thermal efficiency in production of compressed air.
