FIELD: aperiodic pulsed research nuclear reactor physics; computerized systems for in-service diagnostics of reactor core condition.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for in-service diagnostics of fuel element condition in aperiodic pulsed nuclear reactor core in the course of instantaneous-neutron pulse generation depends on checking fuel elements for condition by analyzing spectral characteristic of power damped oscillations in slow part of fission pulse. This method involves recording instantaneous-neutron fission pulse waveform in each pulse, determining spectral characteristics of power variations in slow part of recorded fission pulse, followed by analyzing fuel element for compliance with its defectiveness criteria.
EFFECT: ability of checking core for condition in the course of its operation without core disassembly.
