METHOD FOR TREATING AND PREVENTING SCOLIOSIS Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61N1/36

Abstract RU 2309776 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: before the course of electrostimulation it is necessary to carry out survey and functional vertebral roentgenography in standard projections in standing and lying positions. One should evaluate the level for forming ligamentous-muscular unbalance according to spondylograms by the presence of structural vertebral abnormalities, localization and the length of curvature and contra-curvature, rotation of apical vertebrae and mobility of the deformed vertebral column. It is necessary to determine the type of ligamentous-muscular unbalance and unbalance-forming paravertebral muscles. One should apply electrodes symmetrically and asymmetrically onto the projection of the parts of fixation of these muscles to the bones to carry out electrostimulation. At initial level of unbalance one should carry out electrostimulation of spinal surface muscles. In case of moderate unbalance one should carry out electrostimulation of deformation area. In case of critical unbalance one should carry out electrostimulation of deformation area and critical areas of vertebral column. In case of progressing unbalance one should carry out electrostimulation of the longissimus, transverse-spinous muscles, iliolumbar, thoracic and lumbar iliocostal muscles. The method suggested enables to decrease the atrophy of muscles that take part in maintaining body weight, increase vertebral mobility and decrease the quantity of complications in post-surgical period.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of therapy.
