FIELD: thermal engineering.
SUBSTANCE: fuel is supplied to fuel cell that has anode, cathode, and ion-exchange membrane over anode path. Fuel path has recirculating pipeline for gas return to mixing point whereto fuel is supplied at regulated flowrate and for its mixing. Any remaining amount of oxidant is burned in fuel path thereby affording combustion process monitoring and preventing damage to membrane-electrode assembly of fuel cell. Small amount of oxidant can be purposefully introduced in fuel path for producing water vapor and heat so as to obtained desired parameters of fuel supplied to anode in advance. Such presetting of desired parameters aids in controlling membrane hydration and membrane-electrode assembly temperature.
EFFECT: optimized characteristics of fuel cell.
