FIELD: fuel additives.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparing ferrocene (iron dicyclo[entadienyl) additives for fuels, including hydrocarbon and solid ones, improving antiknock, antismoke, and antiscale properties as well as their burning characteristics, and increasing cetane number if fuels. Method of invention comprises interaction of anhydrous sodium isopropylate, cyclopentadiene, and bis-tetrahydrofuranate-iron dichloride in isopropyl alcohol/diethylamine medium at weight ratio of components 1.64:1.32:2.71:20:0.73, respectively, at stirring for 1-5 h at 0 to 30°C.
EFFECT: increased yield of ferrocene and improved its quality.
