FIELD: organic chemistry, polymers, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention describes metal chelate corresponding to formulas (I) and (II) where M means Ti, Zr or Hf; RA means hydrogen atom or lower alkyl; RB means in each case independently methyl or phenyl; or, optionally, both groups RB in common with N-atom form 5-6-membered heterocyclic ring; RX and RY mean independently hydrogen atom, or RX and RY are bound covalently each with other to form condensed ring optionally substituted with lower alkyl groups; R* means lower alkyl or cycloalkyl; X means in each case independently lower alkyl, lower cycloalkyldienyl or benzyl possibly substituted with di-(lower)-alkylamino-group; X' means coupled diene with possible terminal substitution with phenyl radicals. Invention relates also to method of polymerization of olefins in the presence of catalytic system comprising the above indicated metal chelate. EFFECT: improved method of polymerization, valuable properties of chelate. 9 cl, 3 dwg, 5 tbl
