FIELD: television equipment, possible use for receiving low contrast images in low frame mode.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, device for automatic adjustment of video signal amplitude, containing peak detector and controllable input amplifier, additionally features control code register, buffer amplifier, analog-digital converter, code comparator and maximal code register. Using capabilities of analog-digital converter, digital code of input signal is formed, loaded into maximal code register is the greatest code for the current time moment (towards the end of semi-frame - maximal one for a semi-frame), maximal code of a semi-frame is stored in control code register until arrival of next frame synchronization impulse.

EFFECT: increased brightness and contrast in low frame mode during receipt of low frame images.
