FIELD: machine engineering, manufacture of contact pairs of ball bearing assemblies, ball pairs of plunger pumps and ball cocks.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preliminarily setting rotation axis of cutting tool by inclination angle relative to rotation axis of blank; providing its forced rotation and simultaneous rotation of tool; feeding tool by cutting depth. In order to enhance accuracy and quality of worked surface, simultaneously free rolling around cutting and free rolling around smoothing by means of one tool due to slipping its circular cutting edge relative to surface of sphere in their contact points. Tool is preliminarily mounted in supports providing its free rotation. Rolling around rotation of tool is performed in direction of blank rotation due to forces of free rolling around cutting and friction efforts of free rolling around smoothing in contact points of toll cutting edge with rotating surface of sphere of blank. Tool is fed to side of worked surface till coinciding center of axial symmetry of cutting edge with its designed position relative to center of worked sphere. In order to work inner and outer spherical surfaces, diameter of toll cutting edge is selected equal to or less than diameter of blank sphere.
EFFECT: improved quality of worked spherical surface.
