FIELD: means for allowing passage through fences, barriers, or the like, particularly three-pod turnstiles.

SUBSTANCE: turnstile comprises mechanical part secured to support and including rotary unit with passage blocking beams connected thereto. Turnstile also has rotary unit fixation mechanism and anti-panic mechanism. The beams are installed so that the beams may be fixed in working positions. In working position one beam extends substantially in horizontal direction to prevent unauthorized passage through turnstile and may be promptly moved in vertical for full passage opening. Mechanical part comprises support panel. Rotary unit is installed from one support panel side. The blocking beams are releasably connected to gripping means pivotally fastened to rotary unit. Fixers are installed on rotary unit. Each fixer may translate along axis parallel to rotary unit rotation axis. The first end of each fixer may be engaged with corresponding gripping means to fix corresponding blocking beam. Anti-panic mechanism includes controllable electromagnet secured to support panel and mechanically connected to the first anti-panic pusher end. In normal turnstile operation the second pusher end is inserted in through orifice made in support panel and touches the second horizontal blocking beam fixer end as anti-panic mechanism is switched-off. Each fixer is spring-loaded so that as anti-panic mechanism activates horizontal blocking beam fixer may translate under spring action to bring the first fixer end out of engagement with gripping means of horizontal blocking beam to move the beam in vertical position.
