METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE RESULTS OF STEREOTAXIC SURGERY OF EPILEPSY Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A61B5/476

SUBSTANCE: it is necessary to carry out intra-surgical EEG monitoring, analyze the response of bioelectric activity to stimulation of the targets, dynamics of the index of epilepticity (IE) and response to the destruction. Moreover, if at stimulation of the targets one observes the response in the form of increased epileptiformic activity it is possible to predict negative result of operation. If epileptiformic activity in the course of operation decreases or remains the same one should analyze the dynamics of IE. If IE increases by the end of operation one should predict negative result. If IE decreases or remains the same one should analyze the response to the destruction of conduction paths and, if by the end of operation one observes increased total voltage, increased epiactivity, increased flashes of different frequencies one should predict negative result. If bioelectric activity decreases or remains intact - one should predict positive results of operation. The innovation widens the quantity of preparations for predicting stereotaxic surgical treatment of epilepsy.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of prediction.
