METHOD FOR STEREOTAXIC ANTERIOR CALLOSOTOMY IN TREATING EPILEPSY Russian patent published in 2003 - IPC

FIELD: medicine, neurosurgery. SUBSTANCE: before the onset of operation one should carry out magnetic resonance tomography (MRT). Onto sagittal MRT one should apply points of corpus callosum destruction. One should measure the distance between posterior cerebral commissure and superior edge of Monro's foramen. Intraoperationally one should carry out ventriculography, measure the distance between posterior cerebral commissure and the edge of Monro's foramen. Correction coefficient is calculated to roentgen radiation as the ratio of distance between posterior cerebral commissure and superior edge of Monro's foramen according to MRT to analogous distance upon ventriculogram. Then destruction points should be replaced from MRT onto ventriculogram by using correction coefficient, and their destruction should be carried out with high-frequency coagulation. EFFECT: higher efficiency of therapy and decreased number of complications. 4 dwg
