FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, possibly warming surface of melt steel and cast iron in ladle.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of placing heat insulation mixture in combustible sealed container; placing said container by means of electric bridge crane according to center of ladle in such a way that it is spaced by distance 500 - 1000 mm from metal surface over it and soaking for 3 - 5 s in order to provide combustion only of lower part of container and mixture falling to ladle on metal surface. It prevents spraying of mixture in environment. Sealed container where mixture is placed eliminates moisture penetration into mixture; it improves quality of cast metal.

EFFECT: high degree of heat insulation of metal, lower cost of process for mixture falling on metal surface, improved quality of cast metal.
