FIELD: analytical methods.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for isolation and determination of osmium and may be used for these purposes in objects having different substance compositions. Method according to invention comprises oxidation of osmium into OsO4, separating resulting tetraoxide, dissolving it in alkali solution, neutralizing alkali osmium(VIII) solution in presence of potassium iodide, and potentiometric iodometric titration.
EFFECT: increased analysis accuracy due to excluded loss of osmium tetraoxide.
