FIELD: agriculture, in particular, plant growing.

SUBSTANCE: method involves pressing powder of biocompost or peat having particle sizes less than 2.5x2.5 mm, or mixture of said powders for producing container with blind cavity; placing seed of farm medicinal, garden or decorative crop into cavity of container thus produced; pressurizing cavity containing seed so as to reduce volume of forming substance used for pressurizing of said cavity by 1.5-1.8 times; during pressing procedure, maintaining moisture content of powder of forming biologically digested substance within 12-14% and imparting shape of truncated cone to cavity containing seed, said cone having generatrix arranged at an angle of 20-35 deg to axis of cavity and smaller base oriented inward of container.

EFFECT: improved retention and germination of seeds due to seed encapsulation and provision for optimal pre-sowing preparation of plant seeds.
