FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; production of fluxes for melting and casting of magnesium and its alloys.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method provides for production of powder-like flux of preset granulometric composition ready for use. Proposed method includes dehydration of carnallite and flux-forming additives containing crystallization water in solid state by heat treatment in multi-chamber fluidized-bed furnace, unloading the product from furnace, mixing it with flux-forming additives which contain no crystallization water and packaging. Simultaneously with unloading the flux from furnace it is scattered into fractions by colliding of flux particles which are in suspended state with scattering unit. Size of particles of scattered fraction is up to 10 mm. Device proposed for realization of this method includes multi-chamber fluidized-bed furnace fitted with branch pipes for loading the raw material and discharging the finished product, gas distributing screen, conveyer and reservoirs for finished product. Device is also provided with scattering unit made in form of pyramidal box with screen in its upper portion; this box is mounted on finished product discharge branch pipe in last chamber of fluidized-bed furnace. Area of scattering unit cell is equal to 100 mm2. Scattering unit is detachable and is mounted at height of 0.2-1.0 m above gas distributing grid of furnace. Number of scattering units in furnace ranges from 1 to 5.

EFFECT: reduction of expenses for additional processing of product; reduction of labor input for production of flux.
