MULTICHAMBER FLUIDIZED BED FURNACE FOR DEHYDRATION OF CARNALLITE Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

Abstract RU 2176770 C2

FIELD: multichamber fluidized bed furnaces for dehydration of magnesium chloride raw material in fluidized bed, applicable in metallurgical and chemical industries, when the process of dehydration of materials is accompanied by hydrolysis or some other accessory processes. SUBSTANCE: multichamber fluidized bed furnace has a body with a domed gas-distributing hearth separating it into heat-insulated overgrate and lined undergrate parts, partitions between the chambers having drain holes in the overgrate space, as well as partitions in the overgrate space of each chamber separating it into sections and having overflows arranged near the hearth and adjustable in area so as to ensure a zigzag flow of material. In the upper part the furnace flow of material. In the upper part the furnace has dust-collecting cyclones connected to the chambers through gas conduits, the remote furnace burners are connected to the undergrate space of the chambers through lined gas conduits and have a lined primary furnace and mixing chamber, burner device and pipe connections for supply of fuel, air for burning and air for cooling of flue gases, the last pipe connections are first connected to the cavities of the twin side casings of the furnace and gas conduit communicating with the combustion chamber or mixing chamber. The last chamber of the furnace has a self- contained dust collection system and is separated from the previous chambers by a wall having only a drain hole for flow of the material from the previous chambers by a wall having only a drain hole for flow of the material from the previous chamber. The pipe-lines with chlorine and vapor are connected to each furnace through metering and distributing devices, and one or several furnaces may be connected to each gas-distributing chamber of the furnace. The total section area of the dome outlets of the gas-distributing hearth of each chamber is determined by formula depending on the rate of flow of the heat-transfer agent in the bed and the area of the gas-distributing hearth of each chamber. The area of the gas-distributing hearth the last chamber of the furnace does not exceed 15% of the area of the whole gas- distributing hearth, and the total area of the gas-distributing hearth of the two last chambers of the furnace does not exceed 50%. EFFECT: production of high-dehydrated carnallite suitable for loading in electrolyzers in a solid state. 7 cl, 3 dwg
