FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: electric furnace consists of melting reservoir, charge, post with three electric holders on one traverse and electrode clamping mechanisms. In addition, furnace includes electrode levelling device consisting of turning gear with a bracket on which a base adjustable in horizontal plane is fixed with spring-loaded platforms installed along axes of electrodes and provided with two-level position sensors and spring compression force changing mechanism within the limits of 0.5-0.8 of the electrode weight.
EFFECT: invention allows improving technical and economic properties of the plant owing to reducing time between blows and uniform power introduction to metal bath, excluding breakage of electrodes at levelling, as well as improving operating conditions of service personnel by levelling electrodes in automatic mode.
