FIELD: reactor technology of radionuclide production used in nuclear medicine.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for acquiring Th-228 and Ra-224 radionuclides to produce Bi-212 radionuclide based therapeutic preparation includes extraction of Th-228 and Ra-224 radionuclides incorporated in U-232 radioactive decay chain from raw material containing U-232. Used as U-232 containing raw material is uranium extracted from spent nuclear fuel of power reactor; uranium is transformed into uranium hexafluoride which is conveyed for isotopic separation by way of gas centrifuging to produce uranium hexafluoride enriched with U-232 isotope from which Th-228 and Ra-224 radionuclides are extracted by radiochemical transformation.
EFFECT: ability of producing alpha-radiating nuclides using inexpensive and available raw materials.
