FIELD: nuclear physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing the Pb-212/Bi-212 alpha-emitter radionuclide for producing a therapeutic preparation based on the Bi-212 radionuclide for nuclear medicine on proton beams during the reaction and the following chain of alpha and beta decays: 232Th(p,p4n)228Thα224Raα220Rnα216Poα212Pbβ212Bi. Method of producing the generator radionuclide Pb-212 for preparing a therapeutic preparation based on a Bi-212 radionuclide involves the following steps: initial substance – thorium-232 carbide is irradiated with a beam of energy protons ≥ 80 MeV, after irradiation with protons, the initial thorium-232 carbide substance is heated in high vacuum to temperature of 1,300 °C for selective extraction of Pb-212, then Pb-212 is planted on a cooled collector, from which it is washed with a minimum amount of a solution of hydrochloric or nitric acid. Solution of hydrochloric or nitric acid containing Pb-212 is charged into a device which generates Bi-212, which is formed in the decay of lead Pb-212.

EFFECT: simplification of the process of extraction of parent generator isotope Pb-212 from initial material, in which it is made for production of Bi-212 alpha-emitter radionuclide.
