METHOD FOR TREATING THYROID GLAND HYPERFUNCTION CASES Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61B18/12

Abstract RU 2317792 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves administering 1-3 sessions of bipolar bi-instrumental electric destruction. Hyperfunctioning thyroid gland tissue area is punctured with two electrode-needles. Alternating electric current of 10-80 W is supplied to them. Active part of an electrode-needle is not longer than maximum hyperfunctioning thyroid gland tissue area diameter. Distance between the electrodes is selected not to be longer than active electrode portion. Current is supplied to the moment the hyperechogenic formation stops growing in size as it is observed from ultrasonic scanning monitor screen.

EFFECT: reduced risk of traumatic complications; high safety level for surrounding tissues; predictable destroyed tissue volume.
