FIELD: plasmatron engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method for generating an arc discharge includes supplying voltage from current supply to electrodes of arc gap with preliminary generation of starting arc channel in it by means of injection of impulse high voltage discharge; for aforementioned generation to negative electrode a step-up autotransformer is connected to negative electrode, through low voltage section of which the starting capacitor is discharged through discharger; after generation of arc channel its power is increased up to level, which ensures bridging of current supply through arc channel and maintenance of arc discharge, for which purpose accumulating capacitor is discharged through arc channel, and arc discharge in arc gap is used for bridging the contour which bridges the starting capacitor in such a way, that voltage level in its plates does not exceed the discharger breakdown voltage.

EFFECT: possible usage of low voltage energy supplies.
