FIELD: welding processes and equipment, namely method for controlling and monitoring welding process, possibly creation of high-quality systems for controlling and monitoring manufacturing processes related to electric welding of metals.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring electric current of electric welding process and voltage fed to electrode and decomposing measured values of electric current and voltage by harmonics; removing from electric current spectrum harmonics related to inlet voltage for receiving electric current spectrum characterizing parameters of welding process; using separated electric current spectrum for creating reference spectra for concrete types of electrodes and welded metals at predetermined manufacturing condition; then using reference spectra for monitoring and optimal control of electric welding processes in real time with use of control systems driven by operator or operating in automatic mode.

EFFECT: possibility for optimal control of electric welding processes.
