FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, deoxidation and alloying of metal melts using ferroalloys of, preferably, small-sized fractions.
SUBSTANCE: method involves using small-sized fractions of ferroalloys with lumps sized up to 40 mm; introducing said fractions into melt, with 10-20-mm thick slag coat being preliminarily formed on lump surfaces. Ferroalloy/slag weight ratio is within the range of 1:(0.2-0.6).
EFFECT: reduced waste of basic ferroalloy element owing to decreased time for contacting of ferroalloys with gaseous medium and slag within working space of melting unit.
