FIELD: electrical engineering, in particular, power current transducers, both of direct and alternating current, used as components of protective switching devices.

SUBSTANCE: the current transducer has a current conductor for the current under measurement, Hall transducer with an amplifier and a comparator, power source and an analog-to-digital converter having a unit for comparison of the current value signal of one direction, unit for comparison of the current value signal of the other direction, reference voltage source of the unit for comparison of the current value signal of one direction, reference voltage source of the unit for comparison of the current value signal of the other direction, signal comparison unit for generation of the current direction signal and a reference voltage source of the comparison unit of signals for generation of the current direction signal. In additional, the analog-to-digital converter has a device for protection against current overload including a unit for comparison of the signal of one direction, unit for comparison of the signal of the other direction, reference voltage source of the unit for comparison of the signal of one direction, reference voltage source of the unit for comparison of the signal of the other direction, and a signal delay unit interconnected in a definite way.

EFFECT: expanded functional potentialities of the current transducer due to both determination of the current value and direction and provision of protection of the switching device against current overload.
