FIELD: medicine, nephrology.

SUBSTANCE: it is necessary to calculate in dimensionless units the criterion for detecting sclerosis development (CDSD) in renal interstitium by the following formula: CDSD=p₁+p₂+p₃+p₄+p₅, where p₁ - the quantity of average crystals in 10 vision fields of cytological section; p₂ - the quantity of large aggregated crystals in 10 vision fields of cytological section; p₃ - the ratio of the volume of urinary residue V₁ against the volume of urinary bladder V₂ at US survey; p₄ - the quantity of dystrophically and necrotically altered epithelium of canaliculi in 1 sq. mm of cytological section; p₅ - the quantity of cylinders in 10 vision fields of cytological section; and at CDSD being equal or below 40 units one should consider sclerosis development to be doubtful, at CDSD being above 40 units - to be probable. The method suggested is noninvasive and more accurate.

EFFECT: higher accuracy and efficiency of diagnostics.
