FIELD: effective process for changing rolls.
SUBSTANCE: rolling mill 1 includes several rolling stands; support plates mounted at maintaining side of stands with possibility of motion across roll axes and designed for arranging sets of rolling rolls and adjoin to floor zone of rolling shop; pits arranged in front of stands at maintaining side and having in their bottoms equipment for removing sets of backup rolls. Shortened time period necessary for changing rolls is provided due to arranging support plates in line of support plates just near rolling stands, they close said pits and are detachably joined one to other. In order to change sets of rolling rolls, line of support plates where in subgroups support plates are mutually joined one to other or where support plates are joined one to other in the whole line is mounted with possibility of shifting across roll axes along line of pits of stand zone for opening at least one or all pits. Shifting zone of plates is made in the form of roller table; floor line may be embedded relative to plate shifting line.
