FIELD: metallurgy, namely refining mixture used at processing steel in ladle, mainly in shops with machines for continuous casting of billets.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of adding to melt-filled ladle refining mixture containing slag of production of master alloy for titanium and its alloys, 10 - 80 mass%; waste materials of abrasive wheel production, 5 - 80 mass %; recovered waste materials of silicon carbide refractory materials, 5 - 60 mass%; calcined lime, the balance; before adding to melt, placing such mixture into sealed combustible polymeric envelope. Method according to invention allows lower quantity of non-metallic inclusions by 33 - 40%, particularly quantity of sulfur by 45 - 50%, decrease cost of refining mixture by 40 % and reduce quantity of ferrosilicon to be further added by 20 - 30 times.
EFFECT: improved quality of refined steel.
