POWER SUPPLY Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC H01M10/50

Abstract RU 2323509 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering; power supplies incorporating provision for detecting troubles in their cooling system.

SUBSTANCE: cooling fan 30 of secondary storage battery 10 and cooling fan 40 of DC/DC converter 20 are disposed in parallel for joint use of one cooling path 80. Temperature transducer 12 on air intake end and temperature transducer 14 on air exhaust end are secured on secondary storage battery 10. When cooling fan 30 is faulty, temperature difference between air intake end and air exhaust end in secondary storage battery 10 increases as return flow component 95 of exhaust air 90 is formed through exhaust path 80 when cooling fan 40 is running. Basing on this effect, sending commands for placing in operation both cooling fans 30 and 40 makes control circuit 50 detect fault in cooling fan 30 by checking temperature difference between temperatures Tb1 and Tb2.

EFFECT: facilitated fault detection in cooling fan.
