FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: catalyst with nanoparticles of platinum group elements on a carrier is described; the average size of nanoparticles on a carrier is 3.0 nm or less, weight of nanoparticles in the catalyst is 10% of the catalyst weight or more; the percentage of nanoparticles fixed on the carrier surface is not less than 99%; also described the method of production of catalyst with nanoparticles on a carrier which consists of mixing of solution containing one or more chlorides of platinum group elements with carbon carrier, incubation of the mixture at ambient temperature, introduction of reducing agent - ethylene glycol and the second reducing agent with higher reducing ability than ethylene glycol, and heating of the mixture obtained, precipitation of the obtained nanoparticles on the carbon carrier.

EFFECT: catalyst obtained ensures high specific working surface in the catalyst layer and small consumption of the catalyst and also stability of the surface during the process.
