FIELD: experimental aerodynamics.
SUBSTANCE: method is based on the heating of the compressed working gas by Cowper heater and its following blowoff through aerodynamic jet. At that gas heating is carried out up to the temperature exceeding temperature necessary for flow deceleration; then before heated gas delivery to the jet it is mixed with cold gas in the ratio providing parameters of flow deceleration in the flow core downstream the jet. The device comprises the Cowper heater of the working gas, starting device, aerodynamic jet and the working gas source. Additionally it is provided with either chamber of hot and cold gases mixing installed between gas heater and starting device or additional Cowper heater, assisting gas heater and mixing chamber. At that additional Cowper heater and mixing chamber are installed on-line between Cowper heater and starting device and assisting gas heater is installed in parallel with Cowper heater between the working gas source and additional Cowper heater. The device can be provided also with additional Cowper heater, assisting heater and mixing chamber at that Cowper heater and mixing chamber are installed on-line between Cowper heater and starting device and assisting heater is connected to the outlet of the additional Cowper heater.
EFFECT: enlarging the region of Reynolds numbers (Re) high values in direction of the decreasing of hypersonic flow M numbers when operated in blowdown tunnels.
