FIELD: electrochemical analysis.
SUBSTANCE: method is based on dosing an alkaline reagent into the medium and determination of the potential difference between the indicator and the reference electrodes. The later are in the form of pH electrodes. The potential difference of the indicator and the reference electrodes is measured relative the auxiliary electrode. The potential difference between the indicator and the reference electrodes is equal to the difference between the measured potential differences. There is also measurement of the electro-conductivity of the medium, to which the alkaline reagent is added. The unknown value of the activity of the sodium ions is determined, depending on its relationship to the potential difference between the indicator and the reference electrodes and electro-conductivity. The device for implementing the given method is also proposed.
EFFECT: increased accuracy and stability of measuring low concentrations of sodium in media with low electro-conductivity, as well as lowering of operating costs.
