FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fuel cells, particularly, to membrane electrode unit (MEU). Enhancement of efficiency of current generation in the fuel cell is a technical result of this invention. According to the invention, MEU consists of 1) air electrode, 2) electrolytic membrane used as an ion-transferring medium, placed between bipolar plate with open notch at the fuel side, along which fuel comes, and bipolar plate with the open notch at the air side, along which air comes, in order to form a fuel channel using the open notch at the fuel side and to form an air channel using the open notch at the air side, and 3) catalyst electrode, inserted to the open notch at the fuel side for this electrode to be separated from the electrolytic membrane in order to form a fuel channel from both sides of the electrode and to assist electrochemical oxidation of fuel due to activation occurring at the fuel electrode, to which fuel is supplied, and air electrode to which air is supplied.
EFFECT: enhancement of efficiency of current generation in fuel cell.
