METHOD OF CERAGO REMOVAL FROM HONEYCOMB Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A01K59/00 

FIELD: agriculture; beekeeping.

SUBSTANCE: method of cerago removal from honeycomb includes separation of cerago honeycombs pieces from frames, cooling and milling to separate cerago granules and wax mass and further pneumatic separation of milled mass at air flow speed 7.5÷8 m/s and vacuum drying. Before cerago is removed, honey remainders are removed and cerago honeycombs pieces separated from frames are deeply cooled to cerago freezing temperature from -18 to -19°C during 5+6 hours. Cooled pieces of cerago are milled to separate cerago granules and wax mass. Cerago granules produced after pneumatic separation of frozen cerago granules are re-milled to powder and then vacuum-dried. Cerago granules are re-milled to medium particle size 0.3÷1.5 mm and vacuum-dried in 12÷15 mm layer on heat-conducting surface warmed-up to 48÷50°C during 1.8÷2 hours until cerago humidity is 13÷14%.

EFFECT: extraction of cerago in the form of powder suitable for pelletisation or preservation; reduction of time; decrease of energy output during vacuum drying of cerago.
