FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for treatment of drinking and sewage water, as well as other liquids or air and gases in different industries, in micro-biology, medicine etc. The method of cleaning and sterilisation of liquids or gaseous media involves their treatment using pulsed high voltage discharges, generating ultraviolet radiations, which form on the surface, periodically formed and exploding in the air, gaseous or inert gaseous medium, a thin water jet. For generation of ultraviolet radiation with content of hard ultraviolet radiation of not less than 10%, the energy of one pulse of discharge should not be less than 0.1 J. The device for implementing the method consists of a reactor with connection pipes for input and output of the cleaned liquid or gas, equipped with two electrodes for supplying high voltage. One of the electrodes is made in the form of a hollow pipe for formation of a thin water jet, reaching the second electrode and closing the electric circuit, which forms the pulsed high voltage discharge on the surface of the water jet, exploding jet and the breaking electrical circuit.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of cleaning and sterilisation of the whole volume of the liquid or gas with increased economy and simple operation.
