FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: system consists of a phased antenna array, radiating a continuous frequency modulated microwave signal and scanning the controlled space, a receiver for the reflected signal, a processor, a display and a video camera. The processor 3 detects the metallic object which poses the threat, if one of these two conditions is met: Ai>a0+Δ or Ai <a0-Δ, where Ai is the code of the amplitude of the signal at the output of the receiver of the reflected signal in any subsequent, after the initial, period of scanning at any direction of radiation; A0 is the code of the amplitude of the signal at the same output, obtained in the same direction of the radiation in the initial scanning period, when in the scanning sector there is no permission for metallic objects, posing a potential threat; Δ>0 is the allowance for deviation of the A0 code.

EFFECT: wide range of distances to the detected metallic object; increased noise stability; easier operation; increased rate of scanning and reliability.
