FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for neutralising mercury containing wastes, mainly from fluorescent lamps. The method involves combined crushing of lamps in a mixture with sulphur and sodium hydrosulphide in the presence of a tumbling medium under water. At the end of the crushing process, the obtained mixture is poured into a separate container, in which there is precipitation of mercury sulphide. Water with the remaining part of the solution from the demercuriser is directed for temporal storage for further use in a new demercurisation cycle.
EFFECT: increased efficiency and economy of the process of neutralising mercury containing wastes.
