FIELD: methods of utilization of articles containing mercury or its vapor, for instance, of luminescent lamps. SUBSTANCE: articles containing mercury are broken and treated under layer of aqueous solution of calcium polysulfides with sulfur content of 50-90 g/l at temperature of 20-45 C. Then, wastes are washed with aqueous solution of calcium polysulfide with sulfur content of 20-40 g/l at room temperature, and wastes are sorted. EFFECT: provision of closed technological cycle of treatment, prevented hazard of disposal of harmful pollution to atmosphere and sewage waters. 1 tbl
