FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention pertains to a styrene copolymer and the method of obtaining it. Description is give of the styrene copolymer, obtained using a method of live polymerisation. The copolymer contains an isopropenylaromatic elementary link, with formula (1), where substituting group R1 is hydrogen or hydrocarbon radical -CnH2n+1 where n is an integer, equal to 1 or more; and a vinylaromatic elementary link, with formula (2), where substituting group R2 is hydrogen or hydrocarbon radical -CnH2n+1, where n is an integer, equal to 1 or more; and substituting group R3 is hydrogen or phenylic radical, where content level (A) of the given isopropenylaromatic elementary link in the given styrene copolymer lies in the range from 5 to 95% (mass). The ratio (Mw/Mn) of the average measured molecular mass (Mw) of the styrene copolymer and its average calculated molecular mass (Mn) lies in the range from 1.6 to 4.0. The ratio of the content level (% (mass)) (A) of the isopropenylaromatic elementary link in the styrene copolymer and glass-transition temperature (°C) (Tg) of the styrene copolymer satisfies formulae (a): 0.12A+102≤Tg≤0.62A+102 (in case 5≤A≤ 20), -5.25×10-5A3+1.09×10-2A2+1.72×10-1A+97≤Tg≤-5.25×10-5A3+1.09×10-2A2+1.72×10-1A+107 (in case 20<A≤60) and 1.04A+73≤Tg≤0.79A+98 (in case 60<A≤95). Description is also given of the styrene copolymer and styrene block-copolymer, compositions of styrene copolymers (alternatives), method of obtaining styrene copolymer in accordance with the method of continuous live polymerisation. Description is also given of the product of the styrene copolymers given above and compositions of styrene copolymers, as well as a sheet, foam material, container for food products, construction component, car part and an optical component, containing the above mentioned styrene copolymers.
EFFECT: high heat resistance, atmosphere resistance, melting stability, mouldability and strength.
