FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a bromated copolymer, wherein the copolymer contains a butadiene fragment and a vinyl aromatic monomer fragment polymerised in the said copolymer, where before bromation, the copolymer is characterised by content of vinyl aromatic monomer between 5 and 90 wt % in terms of the weight of the copolymer, content of the butadiene 1,2-isomer greater than 0 wt % in terms of the weight of the butadiene fragment, and average molecular weight equal to at least 1000, where the bromated copolymer is characterised by content of non-bromated non-aromatic double bonds less than or equal to 15% in terms of the level of content of non-aromatic double bonds in the copolymer before bromation in accordance with determination using 1H NMR spectroscopy method, and temperature for 5% loss of weight equal to at least 200°C in accordance with determination via thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Described also is a method of producing the above mentioned heat-resistant bromated copolymer. The invention describes a polymer mixture which contains a vinyl aromatic polymer and a flame-retardant amount of the said bromated copolymer. Described also is a moulded article which contains the said polymer mixture.

EFFECT: obtaining a heat-resistant bromated copolymer and use thereof as a flame-retardant additive.
