FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: sample is successively irradiated with pulse X-ray and ultraviolet radiation, the excited X-ray fluorescence in the peak intensity of the long decay component in the optical range at the X-ray pulse end time and the excited photo-fluorescence spectrum, correspondingly, are recorded and measured in various sample positions; the X-ray fluorescence intensity and decay constants are determined for the short and long decay components, intensities of optically active photo-phluorescence centres in the required spectral bands are determined; after that, the resulting data are converted by software into an identification code used for the identification using a database.
EFFECT: increased reliability of diamond identification.
