FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and a method of identifying diamonds and diamonds. Method includes sequential discrete irradiation of sample with ultraviolet radiation sources to excite luminescence of optically active centers in diamond lattice and to measure intensities of optically active luminescence centers in given spectral bands. Radiation test sample is carried out simultaneously with a reference sample. Discrete exposure is carried out in ranges 240-250 nm, 270-280 nm and 330-360 nm. Intensity of optically active excited luminescence centers is successively recorded in band from 420 to 1000 nm with attenuation kinetics from 5 to 14 milliseconds.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of identifying diamonds.
